It should be the same when shopping for your insurance! You could wind up paying way more than you need to be if you don't shop around when choosing an insurance company for you.
The best way to find the insurance for you is by looking into multiple insurance companies, getting quotes from the companies you are looking at, and comparing them to one another to find the best option for you!
Get more than one type of insurance through one company
When you buy more than one insurance policy through the same company you are likely to be able to receive some sort of bundle discount. Therefore, saving on your car insurance and another one of your insurance policies.
Seek out discounts
There are many discounts' people haven't heard of. Don't be shy about asking you agent if you qualify for any discounts. Here are a few discounts that you may want to ask your agent about.
Good-student discount
Some companies will give a discount to students with a good GPA, normally of 3.0 or higher

This may be more of a question for the company you work with, but regardless, some companies have insurance discounts for their employees.
Green/hybrid car discount
Some companies offer a discount when you have a green/hybrid car. They do this to encourage people to drive these cars as a way of helping the Earth's health.
Safe driver discount
This discount is for responsible drivers with a clean record and maybe even drivers who have taken a drivers safety course.
Don't buy just any vehicle
If you are looking to soon get a different vehicle, be wise with which one you choose. A common issue arising is that people are buying these cars that are very hard if not are impossible to insure, but they discover this after they purchase them.
Some cars are so troublesome to insure because they have poor or malfunctioning anti-theft system that make them prone to being stolen.

Work on your credit
When you have a poor credit score, it can lead to higher insurance rates. Work on having a better score to attain better rates!
